I began writing stories several years ago when my friend Jennifer was undergoing cancer treatments. While she recuperated at home, I sent her weekly letters and had to get a little creative when I ran out of information to pass along to her. Now that Jennifer is gone I still write stories. It is a lot of fun, keeps my imagination active, and helps me avoid dementia. I hope!

All about me . . .

I am from the Blue Ridge Mountains- the most beautiful place in the world. No, the entire universe! Every curve in the road offers a different view. And if you’re like me, every curve in the road makes you a little more carsick. I always thought I would outgrow it, but I still get just as queasy now as I did when I was 6. But over the years I have picked up a few tricks for easing carsickness, or avoiding it altogether:

  • Try to be the driver. The driver never gets carsick. If you’re 12 years old, skip this and go on to the next helpful hint.

  • Try to sit in the front seat. Backseats and carsickness like to team up.

  • If you are forced to sit in the back seat, try to take a nap, otherwise, have a sturdy plastic bag handy, preferably a Ziploc.

  • Look straight ahead, no matter how pretty the view is to your right.

  • Have a soft drink handy.

  • Salty potato chips or crackers are good to have on hand also.

  • If you can, aim the A/C vent right at your face.

  • Try wearing an airsickness band on your wrist. Just typing that phrase makes me a little woozy.

  • Make sure the vehicle isn’t overly warm.

I hope some of these ideas will help you next time you’re traveling through our beautiful mountains.

And now - back to me...

I love crafting, especially counted cross-stitch. I can usually get a cross-stitch project finished in about 12 years.

I like to dabble with a paint brush occasionally, when I’m in a Bob Ross kind of mood.

I love a good Agatha Christie mystery, a cup of Lady Grey, and a pile of truffles nearby.  The truffles are gone by the time I get to page 2.

I love rainy days, but only if I don’t have to leave the house. Those are good days to read.

I love my wonderful family: my hubby of 50+ years, 2 beautiful daughters, 2 sweet sons-in-law, and 5 adorable grandchildren.

I am very blessed!
